A tried and true favorite for many of my compatriots at the old facility was the VIP Escort Mission. Here's how it use to go down for us...
The team protecting the VIP starts at one spot and simply has to extract him/her to another spot in the map without dieing en-route.
Typically the VIP is only allowed a Semi auto weapon for defense. The VIP must be told where to move and cannot move unless instructed to do so by a member of the protecting force.
The VIP can take cover if being fired upon but may not initially engage targets, only return fire after aggressive contact has been made with the opposing force.
If all bodyguards are eliminated and the VIP stands alone he may move and react on his own volition. (good luck)
Achievements that will end the scenario:
*VIP reaches extraction point.
*Opposing force kills the VIP.
*protecting force eliminates all members of the opposing force.
*Time runs out.
That sounds like it would be fun.
At a team skirmish we played something similar to that. I like the rukes that you have alot more though.
We played with the vip using his side arm, but he was able to act on his own through out the entire game.
I like this game style but I would change a few things about the VIP.
Most VIP's in real life are going to be armed to some extent depending on who they are and the situation they are in. They will typically listen to their guards and do what they are told if they deem it a good choice for their well being. But remember, they are the VIP so if they feel like they want to do their own thing to get themselves from one spot to the other, the guards have no choice but to do as they are told without risking harm to their package.
If you find a good role player to be the VIP the match can become very interesting. It helps keep from becoming the same stale "Go find this man and kill him after you kill all his guards because he is hiding in the back". Let's face it, where is the challenge for either side? But when you have a dynamic VIP who plays the part and acts like a person would when suddenly put in danger (feeling fear, adrenaline, anger) it becomes a whole new experience as both sides have to cope in some way with this character. And if you are the VIP, depending on the situation, be vocal. If your opponent is trying to assasinate you on your own turf, then taunt them and demoralize them. Plus who said there only needs to be one VIP? Depending on the size of your game you can have a whole Joint Chiefs of Staff or the leaders of a drug cartel as the VIP's.
Try it sometime. Great roleplayers usually make the difference between a regular airsoft match and an awesome airsoft game. Remember to keep the game and the roles tasteful though and everyone should have a great time.
I could really get into this idea. I, personally, love the idea of a VIP scenario. Reading about being a role-player really got me thinking of how much better the game could be if the players really get into the match.

Whether it was a pistol or any other weapon never really mattered that much when we were playing, so much as we just felt it was better that the VIP was limited to semi-auto capability only.

If we gave him an m4 it would be sorta unrealistic. what VIP carries an m4? I know i would, but anyways, something like a small pistol would be good, even an AEP, like a Glock.
I have played many games like this. They really are enjoyable and involve more tactics and leadership. Variations of said game would also be in my favor. HitMan and Lurch really came up with some great ideas and I look forward to experimenting with it.
I have played things similar to this before and I think that its a great type of gameplay.
What if , on the way to the extraction point, you maybe had to get some some objectives? Example would be if the Opfor leader was preparing to pull out, but he had to destroy "evidence" that he was there, in this case being a flag or something. Also, maybe the escort squard would have to hold out until the evac arrived, then make their way past ambushes... Maybe even have to make their way to the VIP before the other team does, like a search and evac kinda thing....
sounds awesome, i would love to be the guy who shot the VIP right in his face!
I think you might want to make more people on the VIP's team, because it would seem easier to pick off one person than to expunge an entire team.
